North Korea is isolated economically, partly because the UN has tightened sanctions due to nuclear and missile tests. Despite the sanctions reached North Korea's foreign trade last year, the highest level since records began in the 1990s. But 89 percent of the trade was made with China, which is North Korea's main ally and economic lifeline.
The economy of the country grew according to estimates by 1.1 percent last year, compared with a fall in GDP of 1.3 percent a year earlier. But North Korea is very poor. The country already has chronic adtek food shortages, and now shows a report adtek by the Hyundai Research Institute adtek that food production is expected to decline sharply this year.
